Huge capacity for demanding applications

The Q47 provides a high-capacity library solution for general data storage, archival or system backup. It is also suitable for "near on-line" storage and cataloged retrieval of large files (i.e. image files) and large sequential data sets. Q47 provides up to 4.2TB of compressed data storage capacity using up to 60 tape cartridges and up to four tape drives. Even though the Q47 is a powerhouse of capacity and performance, it comes in a streamlined freestanding cabinet just 18" wide.

Laser positioning ensures accuracy

The heart of the Q47 is a patented positioning system that uses a pinpoint laser beam to perform two separate functions. Cartridge Inventory The Q47 laser performs a non-contact inventory by scanning the cartridge bar codes while rotating the carousel, which takes less than one minute. Other companies' libraries must physically touch each cartridge to do an inventory that can take up to 30 minutes. Continuous Robotic Calibration The robot can sense changes in the physical environment and then adjust for those changes, significantly reducing downtime and lowering overall service costs

Easy access eliminates service calls

All tape drives and electronic assemblies are quickly accessed at the back and front of the library. You can easily replace parts or perform an upgrade with only a screw-driver in less than five minutes - no service call is required.

Maximum configuration flexibility

Each drive installed in the Q47 has an independent SCSI connector -allowing drives to be configured on separate SCSI busses to reduce interface contention and maximize library throughput. This design also allows separate hosts to share the data storage device with the use of appropriate software. The convenience of adding drives to the original configuration (up to 4) and the ability to utilize several DLT drive technologies help distinguish the flexibility inherent to the Q47 design.

Media exchange

To exchange media for off-site backup or archival purposes, just open the door, lift out the magazines and replace any or all of the four magazines and continue operations. There's no need to wait for the robot to do mass imports or exports.
